BSC’s post-quantum cryptography test succeeds but reveals significant data overhead and reduced network performance.

BNB Chain completed a post-quantum cryptography upgrade test for BSC, using ML-DSA-44 for transaction signatures and pqSTARK for consensus vote aggregation. The upgrade maintains compatibility with existing infrastructure but introduces major data overhead, increasing signature size from 65 bytes to 2,420 bytes.

During testing, cross-region transactions per second (TPS) fell by approximately 40%. The report highlights network and data-layer scaling as key challenges before full deployment. Prior performance benchmarks or consensus estimates were not disclosed in the release.

No immediate market reaction was reported following the announcement.
