The departures follow a $50M ETH unstaking and broader leadership changes aimed at revamping the blockchain’s roadmap.
The Ethereum Foundation announced the exit of two more senior leaders, Tim Beiko and Barnabé Monnot, from its Protocol Cluster team. Alex Stokes, the team’s remaining lead, will take a sabbatical. These departures follow recent resignations by key figures, including Josh Stark and Tomasz Stanczak, as part of a broader restructuring effort led by co-founder Vitalik Buterin.
The changes come after criticism from Ethereum’s user base over the blockchain’s long-term roadmap and scalability plans. Buterin previously outlined a shift to bring in new talent and accelerate protocol development for higher throughput. Earlier this month, the Foundation unstaked $50M in ETH as part of a treasury overhaul.
ETH has stalled near $2.4K in recent weeks, while competing blockchain SOL has seen momentum toward $120. The leadership exodus may weigh on investor sentiment amid ongoing protocol upgrades.
