ADNOC accelerates pipeline project to boost export capacity to 4 million bpd amid Strait of Hormuz disruptions.
The UAE is accelerating construction of a new oil pipeline to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, targeting completion by 2027. The move follows a directive from Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince to ADNOC’s board to fast-track the project amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Currently, the UAE’s 4.5 million bpd production capacity is constrained by the Fujairah pipeline’s 1.9 million bpd limit, leaving 2.6 million bpd stranded. The existing pipeline also cannot transport refined products like petrol and diesel, further restricting exports.
The new pipeline aims to double export capacity to nearly 4 million bpd, providing a critical alternative as US-Iran tensions persist. The UAE is pushing to operationalize the project by next year to mitigate risks.
