Phunware Inc (NASDAQ:PHUN, FRA:2RJA) said Thursday it has appointed Dmitry Kroshka as CEO and brought in a product consultancy led by a former Disney+ executive to accelerate a strategic update of its mobile guest intelligence platform.
Kroshka, who has served as a senior advisor to the company since October 2025, will lead what Phunware is calling its “2.0 Strategy,” focused on converting the company’s mobile, location-aware, and customer engagement capabilities into a unified, AI-enabled platform for large-property operators in hospitality, healthcare, and adjacent markets
Jeremy Krol, who had been serving as interim CEO, will return to his role as chief operating officer. The company also said it has engaged Build Something Product Group, an AI-first product consultancy founded by Michael Cerda, whose prior product leadership includes Disney+, the Apple Card (Marcus by Goldman Sachs), and Facebook Newsfeed. Cerda will serve as Phunware’s senior product leader through the engagement, with BSPG embedding additional product and engineering resources to accelerate the rollout.
The leadership changes come as Phunware seeks to sharpen its commercial focus around what it calls “Guest Intelligence” – understanding and responding to guest behavior in real time on complex properties, rather than relying solely on historical customer data. “The company has a strong installed base across marquee hospitality and healthcare properties, a more disciplined product portfolio, emerging AI Concierge momentum, and a strong cash position with no debt,” Kroshka said in a statement. “Our objective now is to turn that foundation into focused execution.” Phunware said its AI Concierge module, a generative AI tool integrated with indoor wayfinding and mapping, has seen engagement running approximately 40% above internal forecasts since its official release in January.
