$XYZ’s Square has enabled 1 million U.S. merchants to accept bitcoin payments, marking a milestone for $BTC adoption at the point of sale. Activations peaked at one new business every eight seconds following an automatic rollout for eligible sellers.

The initiative follows Square’s announcement at Bitcoin 2025, aiming to integrate $BTC into everyday commerce beyond trading. Merchants receive payments in U.S. dollars by default, shielding them from price volatility while customers pay via the Lightning Network.

Square offers zero processing fees through 2026 and near-instant settlement. Merchants can convert up to 50% of daily sales revenue into $BTC via the Square Dashboard, simplifying the customer checkout experience.
