Yunfeng Financial launches a blockchain-based token representing 1 gram of 99.99% pure gold for professional investors in Hong Kong.
Yunfeng Financial Group Ltd. (0376.HK) has introduced a digital token backed by physical gold bullion, targeting professional investors in Hong Kong. Each token corresponds to one gram of 99.99% pure gold stored in secure vaults, though secondary trading remains disabled for now.
The initiative leverages the company’s insurance capital reserves and blockchain infrastructure from AlphaToken, a startup led by a former Ant Group executive. Yunfeng Financial, backed by Alibaba founder Jack Ma, aims to transform gold into a liquid digital asset without a high-profile public announcement.
The move reflects growing interest in tokenized commodities as institutional players explore blockchain-based financial tools. The project’s success may hinge on future liquidity provisions and regulatory clarity in Hong Kong’s digital asset market.
