The pre-FEED assessment validated two main tie-back options, connecting the Equus fields to existing offshore infrastructure operated by Woodside’s Pluto facility and Santos’ Varanus Island plant. These options provide access to both liquefied natural gas (LNG) export markets and Western Australia’s (WA) domestic gas network. The company’s contingent resource is independently certified at 1.7 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas and 38 million barrels (mbbl) of condensate.

Using existing infrastructure through tie-backs is intended to reduce capital and operational complexity compared to new-build facilities. The project is designed to deliver around 350 million standard cubic feet per day (mscf/d) of gas, with an initial development of up to five subsea wells, and supply up to 5% of WA’s domestic gas demand. Production and stabilisation will take place via a centrally located floating production, storage and offloading facility, which will allow for the export of dry gas and direct offtake of condensate by tanker.
