Intuitive Machines will compete to develop next-gen systems to monitor objects in geosynchronous orbit under a new US Space Force deal.

Intuitive Machines (LUNR) announced it has been awarded an Indefinite-Delivery/Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the US Space Force for the Andromeda program. The contract tasks the company with designing and deploying advanced Space Domain Awareness (SDA) capabilities to detect, track, and characterize objects in geosynchronous orbit.

The Andromeda contract follows growing demand for enhanced space surveillance amid rising satellite deployments and orbital debris concerns. Prior defense contracts in this sector have focused on improving real-time tracking accuracy and threat assessment for military and commercial assets.

Shares of Intuitive Machines edged higher in after-hours trading following the announcement, reflecting investor optimism about the company’s expanding defense portfolio.
