Odfjell Technology has secured a platform drilling contract from EnQuest, an oil and gas company operating in the UK North Sea, for work on the Magnus platform.
The three-year contract is set to begin in the third quarter of 2026 (Q3 2026) and includes two optional one-year extensions
Odfjell Technology operations executive vice-president Kurt Meinert Fjell said: “We are proud to enter into this contract with EnQuest, marking EnQuest as a new client within our platform drilling portfolio. “Odfjell Technology previously operated under a platform drilling contract on the Magnus platform in 2018, and we are very pleased to return.” EnQuest owns and operates the Magnus platform, a fully integrated drilling and production installation in the northern North Sea. In February 2026, EnQuest announced plans for a six-well infill drilling programme and a production-enhancing well intervention campaign at the Magnus field. The drilling programme is scheduled to start in Q2 2026.
The Magnus field is located primarily in block 211/12a around 160km north-east of Shetland. The Magnus platform, which is equipped with two separate processing trains, processes fluids produced by the field’s wells. The facility can handle a continuous throughput of 85,400 barrels of crude oil per day, up to 110 million standard cubic feet per day of gas export and a maximum of 240,000 barrels per day of produced water.
