Three vessels carrying Iraqi and Emirati oil turned off transponders to bypass monitoring in the key chokepoint last week.

Three supertankers carrying crude oil from Iraq and the UAE exited the Strait of Hormuz last week after disabling their transponders to avoid detection. The vessels transported Basrah Medium and Upper Zakum grades, with one cargo already offloaded in Fujairah, according to tracking data.

One tanker, bound for Vietnam with Iraqi oil, had previously failed twice to pass through the strait. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical transit route for global oil supplies, handling about 20% of the world’s seaborne crude.

No immediate market reaction was reported, though such evasion tactics often signal heightened geopolitical tensions in the region.
